Hashtag Holiday: #InternetDay

For just for a minute, think about where the world would be right now without the Internet. Hard to imagine, right? We watch TV shows, buy groceries, pay bills, plan vacations, hail cabs, play games with friends, talk to our friends all on the Internet—things we never could have imagined before a bunch of science nerds started chatting with each other over a few computer-networks a quarter of a century ago. And because of all that the World Wide Web means to our daily lives, today we recognize #InternetDay, in celebration of one of the most important inventions in our history.

Not sure how to honor #InternetDay aside from the obvious uploading an extra Instagram post? If you really want to get into the spirit of this Hashtag Holiday, check out the first Web site ever created. Launched on August 6, 1991, this site was dedicated to the facts-to-date of the World Wide Web which were few and far between. Let’s just call this site the original #throwback.
