Hashtag Holiday: #NationalTriviaDay!

In the Strahan household, we love trying to one up each other with what we call “little-known facts.” In other words: trivia. In honor of today’s Hashtag Holiday, we came up with a few fun ideas for how we can all get into the spirit of #NationalTriviaDay.

Get out the games! Nothing says “trivia” better than a marathon game of Trivial Pursuit. Invented in 1979 by two Canadian newspaper editors, Trivial Pursuit is called “the biggest phenomenon in game history.” Since hitting stores in 1981, more than 100 million copies have been sold and 50-plus special editions of the game have been created, including Trivial Pursuit: Star Wars Edition, Family Edition for kids eight and up, and the 2000s Edition.

Turn on the TV. Gather a group of friends, and watch some trivia-show classics, like Jeopardy with Alex Trebek, and the new $100,000 Pyramid which I co-host with my man Snoop Dogg. You can test your trivia skills by playing along with the contestants … and you might even learn something, too.

Take an online quiz. There are some great Web sites where you can brush up on your trivia by taking quizzes on everything from geography to history to literature. Sporcle, Trivia Plaza, Braingle, and Fun Trivia are just a few you can try out.
