Heavy Rotation: “Live” by Donny Hathaway

Is it possible for something to be on heavy rotation for nearly 50 years? Well, if it’s Donny Hathaway’s classic soul album Live, the answer is yes! Recorded in 1972 at The Bitter End in Greenwich Village, New York City, and The Troubadour in Hollywood, the album features  traditional soul classics along with some surprise covers of iconic songs like Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” and John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy.” If you haven’t yet discovered Hathaway, consider this your invitation to a master of classic soul. And here’s a tip: Live will also make a great soundtrack for that big Turkey Day Dinner you’re hosting Thursday!
