Holiday Movies to Watch: “Love Actually”

During the holidays, one of the traditions I love most is sitting down to watch my favorite Christmas movies. Sometimes I kick back on my own, sometimes the kids and I pop some popcorn and gather around the TV. In any of these situations, my hands-down favorite movie to watch is Love Actually. I refer to Love Actually as “my movie” and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it (I’ve even watched it before games to get pumped up). Not everyone agrees that it should be considered a modern classic Christmas movie on par with It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story (another Strahan household favorite), but I do, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

If you’ve been living under a rock (LOL!) and have never seen the movie, Love Actually tells the intersecting stories of eight very different couples in the days leading up to Christmas. But it’s more than just a romantic comedy—it’s a drama about love and life and how not every story has a happy ending. But it also warms the heart with hope and a whole lot of laughter, too. There’s awesome dance scene, a Christmas lobster, and a half-naked aging rock star, along with a lot of love found and lost, too.

If you’re not convinced of my Love Actually devotion, check out this clip from GMA Day when Sara and I acted out the movie’s best quotes (my Liam Neeson wasn’t that bad, was it?) in honor of the film’s 15th anniversary. Love Actually is a must-see and I hope when you watch it this holiday season, it warms your heart, too.
