Sara Says: Binge Watch “Dead to Me”

So I’ve decided against my better judgement (just kidding!) to let my TV work wife, Sara Haines, go rogue on the site from time to time. If you’ve watched GMA Strahan & Sara, then you know that my gal Sara loves to share—which she does with heart and a whole lot of humor. Here, she comes clean about TV binge-watching habit and her new favorite show, Netflix’s Dead to Me. —M.S.

If you watch GMA Strahan & Sara, then you know how I feel about my “programs”—I love finding a great TV show and then watching the heck out of it (see: my obsession with Game of Thrones and The Bachelorette). It’s a guilty pleasure, I’ll admit it. And as a card-carrying Netflix binger, I’m so excited that I just discovered another show to go crazy over: the new series, Dead to Me.

Starring the totally incredible duo of Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, Dead to Me is one part mystery-thriller, one part comedy, and one part totally nuts. In other words, my ideal show. Here’s the backstory: Applegate’s Jen is a recently widowed real estate agent who is obsessed with finding the person responsible for her husband’s tragic hit-and-run death. She meets chronic hugger and upbeat optimist Judy at a grief counseling meeting, and the two hit it off despite their differences. As they navigate their losses with laughter, Entenmann’s chocolate-chip cookies, and lots of wine (the show manages to explore the ideas of grief and forgiveness in a totally unique and heartfelt way), they become fast friends and confidantes. But, of course, there’s a twist—well a lot of twists—that could destroy them both. I can’t tell you what the twists are because I don’t want to ruin it for you, so you’ll just have to watch it for yourself.
