So I’ve decided against my better judgement (just kidding!) to let my TV work wife, Sara Haines, go rogue on the site from time to time. If you’ve watched GMA Strahan & Sara, then you know that my gal Sara loves to share—which she does with heart and a whole lot of humor. Here, she chats about what it’s really like to be in the mother-hood. —M.S.
Let’s get one thing straight: I’m no child-rearing guru. I am pretty much always struggling with the parenting game. There is no one way to do it and we are alllearning on the job. My approach thus far is to really focus in on communication. I ask questions and try to be really present when I’m with my kids. And, some days I’m better than others, but I always want to hear what they both have to say. I want to know what they think and how they feel (because of their ages, Alec (my 3-year old) is the one who does most of the talking). I try to speak to them like anyone else and not like they’re babies; I don’t do baby talk. But the number one thing both Max (my hubby) and I focus on is giving love and affection. When all else fails, we just do a lot of hugging, snuggling, and reminding them that we love them—no matter what.
