You may recognize her from a few other articles on the site, but my long time friend Victoria Trilling is also my stylist.. I go to her for advice on just about everything, from what I’m wearing on the red carpet, to that suit I’ll sport for a TV broadcast or even a night out. However, she keeps busy just like me and between all the people she styles, I’m surprised she keeps us all so in check. So with that said, there’s no surprise that she was my go to figure out the most efficient way to pack for the upcoming holiday without breaking your bag… or back. Check it out!! – M.S
The bag: The bag you choose can’t be something too big (or you risk over packing and those airline fees!!!) or too small. Victoria’s tip- Choose a medium-size satchel, like this Collection by Michael Strahan Westbury Wheeled Duffel, which offers ample, but compact space.
It’s super lightweight material not only makes it easy on the back, but leaves more weight for the things inside! Plus when you’re in tight hotel rooms, it’s so easy to store.
The tee: A well-made V-neck tee-shirt, like this one, will keep your bag light and your style on point. Pair it with everything from shorts during the day to chinos and a jacket at night.
The shirt: Whether you prefer an unstructured button-down with the cuffs rolled up or a camp-collar short-sleeve shirt, take two for nights out on the town.
The pants: Crisp, slim-fit chinos or relaxed-fit white jeans are just the pair you need to go from afternoon barbecue to dinner on deck.
The jacket: Keep the lines of the jacket clean so it can be worn with anything in your bag, from shorts to jeans.
The shorts: All you need is a pair of classic chino shorts and a set of swim trunks to keep you covered this July 4th holiday.
The shoe: You don’t want to bring more than two pair of shoes on a short getaway, and as you’ll definitely need a pair of sandals for the beach or pool, you’ll need to make the other set a pair that can go the style distance. We like AllBirds or Converse Jack Purcell Low Tops for their versatility.
Accessories: Sunglasses are a must, and Michael loves his Matsudas.
