The 411: Michael in the October 2019 Issue of “Men’s Journal”

Talk about starting the new season off with a bang: This month, I’m the lucky guy who gets to be on the cover of Men’s Journal magazine! And even though the round of golf that was planned for shoot day got rained out, we all had a blast on the set. There was a lot of laughing, a little bit of singing (on my part), and of course, I had the chance to show off some of my favorite pieces from the Collection by Michael Strahan and MSX by Michael Strahan lines. We also talked about how I am able to stay focused and super productive even with such a jam-packed, on-the-go schedule. Here are a couple of the tips I shared:

Gratitude is my attitude. You all know about my “Wake Up Happy” playlist, and I really do believe in the power of the right music to get the day moving in a positive, inspiring direction. Equally important is my attitude: I am fortunate enough to do what I love every day, and I remind myself of that every morning. Approaching work with a sense of gratitude and appreciation makes it a pleasure to work so hard.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Surround yourself with people who not only make you look good, but who make you feel good, too. Success isn’t found in a vacuum, and it’s taken a lot of support from colleagues, family, and friends to get me where I am today, and I never forget that for a single moment. I also have a team of people who are so on their game that they not only keep me on point throughout the day, they’ve helped me raise my game, too.

Breathe in, breathe out. Most days, I move from one set (GMA) to another (GMA 3: Strahan, Sara & Keke) and, sometimes, to another (Fox NFL Sunday), and staying centered is a real challenge. Even when the clock is ticking, I pause between to-do-list tasks to either shut my eyes or go for a short walk, and take some deep breaths. I’m allowing my mind to catch up with the rest of me that’s in constant motion, and it helps get me mentally ready to move onto the next thing.
