The 411: Thanksgiving Prep

Thanksgiving is all about celebrating over a great meal with friends and family. But there are other ways you can make good on the spirit of the season, too. Below, our thoughts on giving back.

Get outside. Not only will a little bit of exercise in the morning give you a clean conscious for going after that second piece of pecan pie, but signing up for a Thanksgiving morning “turkey trot” has the added bonus of benefiting a charity, too. Give a little bit. Once the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has come to a close—who doesn’t love watching Snoopy making that hard right onto 34th Street—start your practice of giving thanks by giving back with an online donation to your favorite organization (you can click here to find your local Feeding America food bank).

Come together. Hosting a Turkey Day-After Potluck with your family, friends, and co-workers is a great way to get rid of your leftovers and stretch out the holiday. A potluck is a great way to sample different dishes you might not have gotten to the first time around, it’s also a fun way to create a cool, new holiday tradition.
