If opening day of the new NFL season is like Christmas, then the first GMA Day broadcast is like my birthday. I am teaming up with the incredible Sara Haines to co-host the new, third hour of Good Morning America, beginning this Monday, September 10. And I’m really excited for the chance to share it with you!
GMA Day might follow Good Morning America, but it’s not about hard-hitting news or what’s going on in the world of politics. GMA Day is about making people laugh, making people excited, making people feel good about the world, and helping everyone have a brighter day—with our fun twist on it. Of course. I’m really excited to do this show because it’s kind of a natural fit for my personality and especially for Sara (who thankfully doesn’t take herself too seriously, either). Anytime that you can go to work, have fun, and love the person you’re doing it with, you need to take advantage of it—and I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot.
I first met Sara when I was at GMA. She was there working part-time just like I was, and we instantly had a connection. Then she came on and cohosted with me when I was at LIVE, and she was amazing. She is smart, funny, and basically lights up the room with her personality and her presence. I thought that if there was ever an opportunity to work with her in the future, I would jump at the chance—and now it’s all come together.
As for a sneak-peek of what’s to come on GMA Day, well, you’re just going to have to wait and see. Of course, we’ll have some celebrity interviews and things like that, but we also want the show to be very inclusive of our audience … in-studio and at home. Sara and I want GMA Day to be a part of their everyday routine. We want our viewers to feel like we’re sitting around their living room with them because we want the show to be very personal and fun. I think we’re going to have some moments that are going to be a lot different from what people are used to in daytime … but we do know the show will be something that’s going to make you smile and laugh and I think it’s going to be magic.
Now, I need to get some sleep … between GMA Day and football season, I’m going to need some serious shut-eye!
