When I played football, I was constantly looking for ways to cultivate my confidence and courage—it took a lot of “oomph” to get out there on the field game after game. I believed it then, and I believe it in the career I’ve built for myself now, that the key to moving forward and getting ahead in life is to stop being afraid and just be yourself. Yes, it’s easier said than done: Telling yourself you’re fearless, you got this, and letting go is a daily practice. But I truly believe that life takes off on the other side of fear. If you think about it, it’s the things you really, really want in life that you fear the most. And once you get past that initial blockade, anything is possible.
My wife, October, and I had the opportunity to speak at a MindValley personal-growth event in Barcelona, Spain. (MindValley is a global school that offers transformational education opportunities for all ages with the goal of creating a happier, healthier, more fulfilled human race.) We talked to a great crowd of people from all walks of life about life, parenting, courage, and how to get out of your comfort zone so you can discover your true potential and your true power. Take a look and let me know what you think.
