I’ve been so fortunate to have a partner in life, my incredible wife October, who supports me so lovingly. When it was announced that I was going to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, no one was prouder than Tobie. So when she has the opportunity to share with the world just how dynamic, smart, and amazing she is, I want to shout it from the rooftops. Along with our dear friend Kelsey Durkin, Tobie has started a new podcast: “Keep On” is a show about navigating life’s greatest challenges with lots of humor and a whole new level of honesty. Kelsey and October share their personal stories and talk with special guests to bring listeners the practical tools they’ve used to not just survive adversity, but to thrive in the face of it, too.
Eight episodes in, these two powerhouses are on fire. I think the secret sauce here is the fact that they are the best of friends. As Kelsey says about Tobie in the very first episode, “If you saw how gorgeous she is and what her body looked like … I wanted to hate her, I wanted to not have anything in common with this girl from California—I’m from the East Coast. But I would say within a week, I knew [October] was one of my people; we looked at the world the same way even though we came from totally different places. And a friendship was born between us which, over the last 15 years as we’ve raised our kids together, has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.” Together, these two break down how they’ve made their most challenging moments and deepest tragedies their greatest gifts. But don’t just take my word for it; check out the “Keep On” podcast on iTunes.
